Halfords and Pets at Home exchange specialist skills to create memorable colleague experiences and support the Pets Foundation

Halfords has teamed up with Pets at Home for a unique colleague partnership that puts the expertise, energy and generosity of both organisations’ people at its heart.

The collaboration brought together two of the UK’s leading specialist retailers, with colleagues from each business using their knowledge and skills to support the other.

The partnership began with Halfords’ first Bring Your Dog to Work Day at its Support Centre in Redditch, where around 50 dogs joined their owners for a day of wellbeing, connection and fun.

Pets at Home colleagues helped Halfords deliver the event, providing specialist pet-care knowledge, dual-branded accessories and pup-cakes. Veterinary professionals from a local Vets for Pets practice were also available throughout the day to offer pet health and welfare advice.

The event proved a major success with Halfords colleagues, creating an opportunity for people from across the organisation to come together in a relaxed and engaging environment.

Halfords then took its own expertise on the road, travelling to the Pets at Home Support Office in Handforth to deliver a day of practical services, advice and activities for its colleagues.

Halfords teams carried out complimentary vehicle and bike health checks and provided expert guidance on road safety, travel and Cycle2Work. Colleagues were also offered exclusive discounts and invited to take part in quizzes and fundraising activities in support of the Pets Foundation.

The initiative showcased the breadth of knowledge within Halfords and the enthusiasm of colleagues to use their skills to support people beyond their immediate teams and workplaces.

It also demonstrated the wider value of collaboration between two major specialist retailers. By creating opportunities for colleagues to step forward, share their expertise and learn from one another, Halfords and Pets at Home have developed a partnership that benefits their people and the communities they serve.

Funds raised through the events will support the Pets Foundation, which works to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. Through grants and partnerships with rescue centres, rehoming organisations and animal welfare charities across the UK, the charity helps vulnerable pets receive essential care and support while helping more animals find loving homes.
